Rolling grants for eligible not-for-profit organisations supporting thriving communities in Community Trust South’s funding area.
Funding
Active SmartyGrants pathways: General Grants – $10,000 and under (simplified process); General Grants – $50,000 and under; and Unincorporated Organisations – up to $2,000. Project grants: for total project costs under $20,000, 15–40% will generally be considered; for over $20,000, 20–30% will generally be considered. Operating grants are generally up to 15% of annual expenses; all percentage amounts are guidelines. Official conflict: the primary General Grants page states grants up to $50,000, but separately refers to applications under $75,000. No hard maxAmount is stored pending verification.

Incorporated societies, Incorporated charitable trusts, Charitable-purpose companies registered with Charities Services, Non-profit organisations established under the Local Government Act 2002, Māori Trust Boards established under the Māori Trust Boards Act 1955, Non-profit organisations established under the Education Act 1989, Eligible unincorporated community groups, Eligible Funding Partner organisations applying for another group

- • The organisation generally operates in the Community Trust South funding area: Southland, Queenstown, Glenorchy, Arrowtown, Tapanui or Heriot.
- • The funded work and community benefit must relate to the Community Trust South funding area. Projects outside the area may be considered where there is a clear benefit to the Trust’s community.
- • A legal entity is normally required. An unincorporated group may apply directly for up to $2,000 if it has rules, meeting minutes and a bank account in its own name.
- • An unincorporated group seeking more than $2,000 must apply through an eligible Funding Partner. The Funding Partner receives payment and is responsible for grant conditions.
- • Applicants must apply before the project starts; retrospective projects and costs are not funded.
