What it supports

Sport Bay of Plenty administers Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa in its region for programmes and projects delivering play, active recreation and sport experiences for tamariki and rangatahi.

Funding

Current Sport Bay of Plenty pathways are: Fast Fund up to NZD 10,000 (open until funds are exhausted), Major Fund up to NZD 30,000 (Round 1 closes 9 September 2026), and Play Fund up to NZD 1,000 (closes 30 September 2026). These are pathway-specific caps, not a single programme-wide maximum.

  • Major Fund Round 1 (2026/27) — closes 9 Sept 2026 (The source says Round 1 is open until 9 September 2026. Fast Fund is separately rolling and Play Fund is a separate pathway closing 30 September 2026.)

Hapū, iwi, marae and Māori organisations, Primary, intermediate and secondary schools, kura and wharekura, Tertiary education and wānanga, Charitable trusts, Regional or local councils, Incorporated societies, For-profit businesses, commercial organisations and social enterprises

  • Applicant organisation must be a legal entity.
  • Organisation must demonstrate play, active recreation or sport as its primary or mandated purpose, a kaupapa Māori context, or relevant relationship and impact with a stated priority group.
  • A budget template must be submitted for requests over NZD 1,000.
  • Successful applicants must complete budget reconciliation reporting.
